ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI)-A morning injury crash just east of Cave Springs Road in St. Charles slowed traffic on both I-70 and along Veterans Memorial Parkway. The crash happened around 8:00am Saturday.

The Missouri Highway Patrol gives this account: a driver failed to yield to an emergency vehicle and a pursuit ensued. The driver went off the road, crashed through a fence, then drove the wrong way on Veteran’s Memorial Parkway , hitting two cars before the driver went off the road again. The driver was ejected from the vehicle. Five other people were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

No one was seriously hurt.

There is no word yet on charges or citations.

I was westbound and saw this accident as it was happening. It was horrifying to watch. The car that went out control caused collisions on the highway as well as crossing to the outer road through the fence and hitting a car going west causing it to go head on into a car going east. It looked to me like a police chase but it could have just been a coincidence that a police car was right behind it as it happened with its lights on. But as I said I was westbound. Those eastbound drivers would know more than me.

I was eastbound when it all happened and seen it all unfold. It was deffinately a high speed chase and both the person in the mustang and the state patrol officer wasdoing well over 100 when they passed me.
Pretty crazy to say the least!
