Shakespeare’s 450th birthday celebrated across St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – St. Louis is hosting a big birthday celebration for English playwright William Shakespeare.

He was born 450 years ago Wednesday. There will be celebrations all across the country. In St. Louis, the five-day celebration called “Shake 38” kicks off Wednesday at Tower Grove Park with a reading of “King John.”

A total of 38 free Shakespeare performances will take place over the next few days at 38 venues, including libraries, restaurants and parks across town.
