(KTVI) - With a few strong storms in the forecast - it's time to get yourself ahead of the severe weather by purchasing a NOAA Weather Radio.

Chris Higgins talked about the radios with Jim Kramper, Warning Coordination Meterologist with the National Weather Service.

These radios are an important part of sever weather preparedness.

Fox 2 is teaming up once again with Midland Radio and a host of sponsors, but new to the pack this year is Walgreens.

I own a weather radio, but turned off all the alerts except for tornados. Seemed pointless to have a screaming alert for thunderstorms when I already hear the thunder.
