Mo Senate continues discussing school transfer bill
(KTVI) – Missouri State Representative Joshua Peters called for a closed session in the House to discuss a Senate bill dealing with students transferring from unaccredited districts. The closed session was on Wednesday, April 30.
In a news release, Peters emphasized the importance of the discussion and the reason he called for a closed session of Senate Bill 493.
“This is a vitally important discussion that shouldn’t involve lobbyists or interest groups or any of the external influences that too often drive education discussions away from what really matters – the best interests of our young people. Instead, we need to sit down together as a legislative body and have an honest, thorough dialogue about what we can do to ensure every child in Missouri receives a quality education,” Peters said in the news release.
Peters said in the release that the discussion of students transferring from unaccredited districts is a serious one and he would like to see “less meddling from special interests and more serious legislating.”
