$2,300 found in Goodwill clothing donation
ALTON, Ill. (AP) _ MERS Goodwill officials in Alton say they are trying to determine who may have left $2,350 in the pocket of clothing donated to the organization recently.
The Telegraph in Alton reports (http://bit.ly/1kO5BRk ) MERS Goodwill President and Chief Executive Officer Lewis C. Chartock says the organization will either thank the person for purposely leaving the money as a donation, or right a possible accidental drop-off.
A Goodwill employee found the cash and a deposit slip while processing a clothing donation last week.
Chartock says if Goodwill does not locate the owner, after 30 days the $2,350 will go to MERS Goodwill’s programs that help the community.
With spring cleaning and college dormitory move-outs, MERS Goodwill officials recommends looking in pockets, bags, envelopes and small boxes before donating items.
