Cardinals manager Mike Matheny and center fielder Peter Bourjos were both ejected in the team’s 5-2 win over the Braves on Friday night at Busch Stadium. Bourjos struck out to end the fourth inning and was disappointed with the calls of plate umpire Sean Barber. The umpire followed Bourjos after the inning ended and ejected him for arguing the pitch calls. The Bourjos ejection brought out Cards manager Mike Matheny. He too was ejected by Barber for arguing.

The game went better than the end of the fourth inning for the Cardinals. A three run rally in the fifth inning was the difference. Matt Holliday broke a 2-2 tie with a run scoring double. Allen Craig added his third hit of the game right after Holliday’s hit to make it a 4-2 Cardinals lead. Yadier Molina’s sac fly pushed the Birds lead to 5-2.

Lance Lynn pitched seven innings, allowing just two runs to get the win and raise his season record to 5-2. Trevor Rosenthal pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his 12th save of the year. The win lifts the Cardinals season record to 22-20 after their third straight victory.

So tired of the umpires getting involved with the game in this way….almost as bad as carpenter getting tossed a few weeks ago telling the ump it was a terrible call…their heads are way too big and the new commish (TLR?) needs to address this.
