Arts Pop: Opera Theatre kicks off season with lots of sparkle

(KTVI)-Opera Theatre of St. Louis is just one week away from their 2014 season. The festival opens on May 24, 2014, with Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”and continues through June 29 with three additional new productions, the world premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon’s “27,” Poulenc’s The Dialogues of the Carmelites, and Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love.

All shows are performed at the Loretto-Hilton Center on the Webster University campus.

The production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” features the return of celebrity designer-director Isaac Mizrahi. It also will feature lots of glitter. The props department has purchased 100 pounds of the shiny stuff.
