ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– Students at four East St. Louis schools went home early Tuesday because their air conditioning units were vandalized.

With warmer temperatures, classes dismissed at 1:30 pm Tuesday afternoon at Vivian Adams Early Childhood Center, Officer Elementary, Mason-Clark, and Lincoln Middle Schools.

Repairs will cost close to $100,000.

In the meantime, students will be allowed to wear shorts and summer clothing to school.
