PORTERVILLE, CA — Some advice for people who are bullied from the mayor of Porterville, California.

“I’m against bullying, but I’m getting damn tired of it being used as a mantra for everything, and the ills of the world,” Mayor Cameron Hamilton said at a City Council meeting, according to CNN affiliate KFSN-TV in Fresno. “All most people just have to grow a pair, and stick up for them damn selves.”

Hamilton made the controversial statement last week while discussing a proposal to create an anti-bullying safe zone for students, the TV station said.

Councilwoman Virginia Gurrola shot back, “It’s hard to just grow a pair when you’re a 10-year-old girl.”

On Tuesday night, CNN’s Don Lemon asked Hamilton if he wanted to apologize to victims of bullying.

“I didn’t use the word ‘youngsters,’ ” the mayor said, pointing out that he wasn’t referring to children.

“In today’s world we’ve gotten to the point where we don’t take any accountability for ourselves,” he continued. “Or for those that are around us, our friends or for what we’re doing in our schools.”

The mayor defended himself, telling Lemon that he was in an “adult” meeting with no children around. But he conceded he probably could have used different words.

In most cases what you say is true. Most kids and many adults want other people to fight their battles for them. Some children do need help with older kids bullying the younger and smaller, but some just like to whine, in true cases of bulling there should be great punishments.

Kids being bullied is nothing new. The difference is we didn’t have social media. Make the kids get off FB and Instagram and Twitter. Have them take a martial arts class or something to build their confidence if they feel physically threatened. As for the adults…..grow a pair.

I think it is about time that someone did say this. It just goes to show you how many wimps we have in this country today that cannot stand up for themselves. People need to learn to fight their own battles because someone is not always going to be there to help them out.
Now that being said I am one to jump in and help someone out if the odds are in someone elses favor, but if it is one on one then that person should stand up for him/herself

How many school shooting are the result of someone “growing a pair” and opening fire?!?!

part of the problem with our kids now is that the parents aren’t growing a pair and disciplining the children therefor the children think they can do whatever they want
