SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) _ A southwest Missouri youth football coach has been ordered to stand trial on charges of kidnapping, raping and murdering a 10-year-old Springfield girl.

KYTV reports a Greene County judge issued the order Thursday following a preliminary hearing for 46-year-old Craig Michael Wood.

Wood is accused of raping and killing Hailey Owens on Feb. 18 after throwing her into his pickup truck while she walked along a street in her neighborhood. Witnesses at Thursday’s hearing included a woman who witnessed the abduction and called 911 with a description of the pickup truck and its plate number.

Law enforcement witnesses described going to Wood’s home and finding Hailey’s body wrapped in trash bags inside a storage bin.

Wood has pleaded not guilty. He remains jailed without bond pending his next court appearance June 30.

So, what did this rich hick’s money buy him in the justice system THIS time to try to avoid paying for his crime?

Did Ma and Pa give up some of their family trust to pay to defend their fine son?

Money buys our justice system in America, but something tells me his stack o’ cash isn’t high enough to get out of THIS one! But maybe he can buy a reduced sentence, 20 years instead of life or something like that.

Just more wealthy rural hick trash, living off the fat of the land, trying to buy his way out of justice. But it’s America, so what else is new?

Oh so agree with you. This was a very clear cut case of abduction and murder. Now Haleys family and friends are going to endure more pain. Ahhh yes and Woods parents will do anything to save their son no matter what the crime was. Even killing a 10 year old. I am familiar with money buying the justice system from the victims point of view. Those buckos get a high powered lawyer and the perp freedom every time. All that hogwash of depression, mental pressure that Woods was claiming is just that hogwash. My gues is he will get that 20 and the taxpayer once again is going to pay

This whole thing just makes me ill. I am outraged, Playing the “He is mentally ill” card is utter garbage and grasping for straws. This lower than a roach Poo individual has been secretly stalking the children of this community. It makes me fearful who we can really trust near our children and family members. That binder he carried and stories he wrote, says it all. He should have done us all a favor and put a bullet in his own head before he acted on his perverseness. As a member of this community I do feel betrayed and am still in shock. I can only imagine…what Hailey parents feel. Mostly I feel for Hailey. I cannot even fathom the primal fear and terror she experienced.

There is not going to be enough justice in this case. 20 years will be too good for him (he will be is put in segregated custody). Euthanasia would be too kind as well. Going “Midieval” on him is not too far out there for the way I feel and I am certain there are those of you have felt the same. We are going to hear some absolute trash coming from the defender. How dare he try to water this down. The defender will attempt to make Woods a victim of his own hell. The man is a predator. It’s pretty simple and clean cut. I am done here. I find this… Sickening.

“Youth Football Coach.” Is there a reason the news media is no longer saying that he was a teacher at a public school?
