(KTVI) - A six-year-old Illinois boy is being hailed a hero for stopping his friend from being abducted.  It happened in Chicago.

Kaylen Woodard and his next door neighbor Marcy were playing outside after school last week.  They were only 20 feet away from their front door when  a stranger got out of his car and tried to abduct the 10-year old girl.

The man tried to hold Marcy's mouth as he grabbed her.  But little Kaylen fought the man, allowing his friend to break free.

The man had already driven off by the rime the parents ran out to find him.  Both families immediately called police to file a report.  Marcy's parents say they are so thankful and blessed little Kaylen was there for their daughter.
