FENTON, MO (KTVI)-- Little league teams at the Fenton Athletic Association have had a pretty good year.  They’ve not had to cancel too many because of weather.  Lighting forced the cancellation of Thursday night’s late games.  Board members say the fields have held up thanks to a product they mixed into the dirt before the season started.

“We bought 5 tons of what they call Turface,” said Gordon Branham.   “It’s just a conditioner you mix in with the dirt. “

The rain has been good for business at the Tom Wolf Hardware Store in Pacific.   Even so, owner Beverly Wolf is tired of the rain.

“I’m very tired of it,” said Wolf.

She said the rain is providing some repeat business.  Customers with washed away grass seed have come back to purchase more.  She said the same goes for garden seeds that never took off because of the heavy rain.

Subcontractor Tim Gregory was not happy to see more rain on Thursday.  The rain kept him from earning money as a painter.

“This time of the year we schedule a lot of outside work,” said Gregory.   He’s hoping for a dry weekend.

He’s not the only one.

“We have a great Father’s Day tournament,” said Branham.  “If the rain can stay away after today, we’ll be in good shape.”
