UNIVERSITY CITY, MO (KTVI) - A big show of force by University City residents Monday night forced the city council to back down from a proposal to weaken citizens' voices at council meetings.

A crowd estimated at nearly two hundred packed the room in a hastily called special council meeting.

The council proposal would have eliminated a "citizen comment" during council meetings, moving the comments to the end of meetings.

The council decided not the change the citizen comment period in the end.
