HOUSE SPRINGS, MO (KTVI) - Rescue crews  have recovered the body of a man who was swept under water by strong currents along the Big River.  It happened at Rockford Beach Park near House Springs.   Authorities received a 911 call for the 20-year-old around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

While river levels are about normal for this time of year, the man went missing in a deep hole just downstream from a damn near the park where the water is murky and as much as 18 feet deep in spots.

There is a "swift moving stream" warning for the Big River posted on Jefferson County's Rockford Beach Park website.   It's says, "strong currents produce dangerous swimming conditions.  Life guards are not on duty.  SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK!"

So you are saying that if the people in House Springs paid higher taxes people would no longer drowned?

My son was swimming there when this happened and called me to come get him. The boy was climbing the cliff wall & diving into the river (above the falls). Dove in & didn’t come up.

This is very sad. Praying for his family at this time. I used to live in the area and that river does have son dangerous spots to be swimming in.

I know him he’s not the brightness crayon but he should’ve known better to be jumping on the top of the falls. He probably is on the bottom like they said above. Hope they find you!!! Use your brain that I know you have.

I can’t believe the comments on here! I did not know him personally but I know a lot of people who did…. Okay so maybe he jumped … But please have some respect! I’m so sorry Scott fly high! I’m praying for your family and friends and hope they make it through these rough times! And to everyone who posted negative comments “instead of being negative and judging someone you might not even know be kind and pay some respect to Scott and his family .. Because most likely you would not like it if someone close to you went tragically and people who don’t even know them were negative just because of stories that might not be true! R.I.P Scott!

it is common for people to jump off the cliff, and bridge there, I knew an older (40’s) guy that passed after jumping off the bridge.if the gaurd catches you, you get kicked out, I still go there, but I sit in a chair in the shallow area.still a shame, go to cool off have fun, empty seat on way home
