Firefighter killed in motorcycle accident

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-A West County firefighter was killed in a motorcycle crash early Saturday morning in south St. Louis. Kevin Bacon. of Waterloo, IL, died after he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a median along south Broadway and Utah.

The 39-year-old served as a firefighter for 15 years in both the St. Louis fire department and West County EMS and Fire Department.

In 2012, Bacon saved the life of a driver who was trapped underneath an SUV by lifting the 3,000-pound vehicle off the driver,  He was awarded the Class II Silver Medallion from the Greater St. Louis Fire Chiefs Association. Read more his rescue effort from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
