Hope Solo arrested, allegedly assaults sister and nephew

SEATTLE, WA (KTVI)-Hope Solo, goalkeeper for the U.S. women’s soccer team and former member of the defunct St. Louis Athletica, was arrested early Saturday morning for allegedly hitting her sister and 17 year old nephew during a dispute at her home in a Seattle suburb.

The Seattle Times reports that officers responding to a 911 call at Solo’s house just after midnight stated they could hear the “disturbance” from the street. Solo, 32, appeared “intoxicated and upset,” police said. The nephew and sister were visibly injured.

The soccer star, who plays for Seattle Reign FC,  was hosting a party at her house when the dispute took place.

Solo is being held without on two charges of domestic violence assault in the fourth degree.

Solo and her husband, Jerramy Stevens, a former pro-NFL player, famously got into an altercation just hours before their 2012 wedding. Police arrested Stevens saying he had assaulted Solo. He was released because of insufficient evidence.
