ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – St. Louis County police are looking into the deaths of two people in Glasgow Village.

Police got a call at around 2:20 Friday afternoon; concerns that someone inside a north St. Louis County home was suffering from a medical emergency.  But when police arrived at the house on the 300-block of Crawford Road, they discovered that the house was on fire, and then found two bodies inside.

St. Louis County police have identified the victims as 27 year-old DeLoria word, and 33 year-old James Word.  According to their cousin, Monique Allen, the couple is survived by a five year-old daughter, and ten year-old son. They had been married one year.

Allen explains, “Yesterday he and his wife just had their first year anniversary, just yesterday. And now they’re gone.”

As friends and relatives continued to arrive at the scene, each of them felt the devastation all over again as they tried to console one another.  What confused many of them is that from the outside of the home, it was nearly impossible to tell there had been a fire inside.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire and the couple’s death, but according to St. Louis County Police Sgt. Colby Dolly, the evidence so far does not seem to indicate foul play.
