ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-In six months, Missouri stores will be able to sell beer by individual bottles or cans. On Friday, Governor Jay Nixon signed a law allowing the sale of single-bottle beers at retailers.

Current law requires beer to be sold in packages containing at least three bottles.

The new law takes effect in January.

The bill,  SB689, was sponsored by Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Glendale.
