(KTVI)-Things got a little testy Saturday on CNN during an interview with comedian Joan Rivers. Anchor Fredericka Whitfield asked her often mean-spirited comments about celebrities then followed up by asking about criticism over the cover of Rivers' new book, Diary of a Mad Diva.

Rivers didn't like the line of questioning and sounded off, saying “I made people laugh for 50 years. I am put on earth to make people laugh. My book is funny! I wear fur that was killed 15 years ago. I work for animal rights-stop it with -- you do this and you're mean. And you are not the one to interview a person who does humor! Sorry!”

Rivers walked off the set and didn’t return to finish the interview.

Since the book's release, Rivers has been criticized by animal rights groups for wearing fur. Protesters made headlines for showing up to a book signing last week in New York.
