NORTHWOODS, MO (KTVI)-A woman is dead following a house fire early Sunday.

Northwoods police  say a 49 year old woman was found dead inside a home at the 3800 block of Nelson Drive after it was allegedly set on fire. Neighbors say the victim lived there with her brother and another woman who had domestic issues. Northwoods police were called to the house two times on Saturday and had been there many times in the past.

Neighbors say that the male home owner's girlfriend allegedly set the house on fire early Sunday morning while he was away. The 49 year old woman was sleeping in an upstairs bedroom while the home burned. Paramedics tried to save her but she died at the scene.

Northwoods and St. Louis County police are still interviewing family members and witnesses. They're still waiting for autopsy and forensics results.  We're also told the family had only lived in the home for a year.
