Man charged with reckless homicide after wife dies in drunk driving crash

Todd Barnett

(KTVI) – A Lebanon Illinois man is being charged with murder after driving the car that crashed killing his wife this winter.  The drunk driving accident happened the day after their 26th wedding anniversary

Police say that Todd Barnett, 51, got into a car accident with Julie Barnett at mile maker 3.8 in East St. Louis, IL on January 24, 2014.  His wife died from injuries in the crash.

Barnett has been charged with one count of reckless homicide and one count of aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol – causing  death.

Barnett turned himself in to the O’Fallon police department on July 10th.  Bail on the charges was set at $40,000.  He posted the required amount and has been released.

    he posted bail and is out now.. geezus only for him to do this again killing other people next time, it is never the idiot driving drunk who dies it is always the innocent
