Grandmother facing kidnapping charges speaks: “I didn’t do anything wrong”

(KTVI) – A grandmother accused of abducting her 4-year-old granddaughter from Cuba, Missouri says she didn’t do anything wrong.

Terry Omeni was arrested  Sunday morning in a Chesapeake, Va. hotel.  The grandmother from New Jersey was accused of abducting her granddaughter, Sabrina, who was spending the summer with her.

She told that she found out Sunday morning Sabrina was listed as a missing/endangered child.   She said she called police and told them she was at a hotel in Chesapeake.

endangered missing CollageAnd while Omeni says she had permission to have the child for the summer, she couldn’t afford to bring her back at the expected time.   And then Omeni says her phone was turned off which lead to the lack of communication.

She now faces a child abduction charge in Missouri and will be extradited.
