Police investigating officer involved shooting in Granite City

GRANITE CITY, IL (KTVI) – Illinois State Police are handling a shooting case involving a Granite City police officer. On Saturday, Granite City police responded to a fight inside a home at the 2400 block of Delmar.

During the investigation, an officer confronted a suspect who at some point was shot by the officer.

Several people were injured during the fight. Granite City police are investigating that.

Illinois State Police will take over the police involved shooting investigation.

The wounded suspect is being treated at a St. Louis hospital.
