UMSL summer commencement is Saturday

ST. LOUIS (AP) _ Nearly 350 people will receive degrees Saturday during summer commencement at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Degrees will be conferred at two ceremonies, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Hazelwood school superintendent Grayling Tobias, who was a baseball and basketball standout at the university, will speak at the morning program. That ceremony is for graduates in the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education, College of Fine Arts and Communication, School of Social Work and the Public Policy Administration master’s degree program.

The afternoon session speaker will be StevenR. Sullivan, executive director of the nonprofit Provident Inc. The afternoon ceremony is for graduates of the College of Business Administration, College of Nursing and a joint undergraduate engineering program between UMSL and Washington University.

    Ah, the memories! It was 39 years ago I was at this same summer ceremony. Those sure were the “good ol’ days” alright. Except Nixon was president – but we all know how that turned out!
