ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – The hacker group Anonymous has posted a video showing their support for the demonstrators. They have threatened to hack the Ferguson police department if any protesters are harmed.  The group says they will release personal information from members of the police department and dump it on the internet.

They left this message with the video posted on YouTube:

Greetings world, we are Anonymous.

On August 9th in Ferguson, Missouri the 17 year old and unarmed Mike Brown was shot several times and killed by an officer of the Ferguson Police Department. His body was left to lie in a pool of blood in the sweltering heat for hours while 15 police departments militarized the area against protesters, sealed the roads leading to Ferguson in a vain attempt to prevent protesters from reaching the city. The police has clearly crossed a line in the sand.

For this reason Anonymous will not be satisfied this time, as we have in the past – with simply obtaining justice for this young man and his family. Anonymous demands that the Congressional Representatives and Senators from Missouri introduce legislation entitled “Mike Brown’s Law” that will set strict national standards for police conduct and misbehaviour in the USA.

To the good people of Ferguson, take heart – and take your streets. You are not alone, we will support you in every way possible. Occupy every square inch of your city. Demand justice, staying silent today could result in the death of your kid tomorrow.

To the Ferguson Police Department and any other jurisdictions who are deployed to the protests: we are watching you very closely. If you abuse, harass – or harm in any way the protesters in Ferguson we will take every web based asset of your departments and governments off line. That is not a threat, it is a promise. Attacking the protesters will result in the release of personal information on every single member of the Ferguson Police Department, as well as any other jurisdiction that participates in the abuse of this States own law. We will seize all your databases and E-Mail spools and dump them on the Internet. This is your first and last warning.

The time has come for more than simple justice for these atrocities. The time has come to draw a line in the sand. The time has come to bring those to justice, who served to protect us, not kill us.

Until justice prevails, hack and protest will replace it.

Operation Ferguson engaged.

We Are Anonymous.
We Are Legion.
We do Not Forgive.
We do Not Forget.
Ferguson, Expect us.

Slacktivism at its finest. Plus if the personal info gets out it could put their families at risk. Your beef is with the officers, not their families

I can say with 100% certainty the message was not from the Anonymous collective. The majority of Anonymous will not get involved in something like this because of the ignorance of the looters and rioters. The youtube page was not really an official page but someone piggybacking on the name. The collective is very inactive, and the only ones doing anything are political anarchists and script kiddies that push a button on some software. Any personal information that is released, is stuff they’ve been able to find on their own, no hacking involved.

I’ve been very active in the collective and would be glad to answer any questions by fox2 because you guys have it wrong. I know the news is just being syndicated through multiple platforms but it’s irresponsible. This is one of the reasons why the real hacktivists no longer push the anonymous name.

These are harmless DoS attacks that probably wouldn’t work if Ferguson wasn’t in the news and already receiving traffic.

    • also anon apparently

there is no “real” Anonymous, it’s a loose collection of people who hack stuff sometimes. there’s no group, there’s no initiation, there’s no way to become a ‘member’, it’s just a name that hackers can take up if they want to. just because you bought a V for Vendetta mask doesn’t make you the spokesperson, dude.

if you follow the link, you can find the twitter page where they’ve been leaking things. pretty innocuous things so far, think they’re just trying to scare the shit out of the cops.

I was a child when my parents were targeted by criminals because my father was an officer. If someone broke the law, he was there to serve the people involved and to uphold. He was a good officer (one of the few) that quit and relocated his family after he put a meth dealer away who was using children as a human shield. I remember the only time I ever saw him cry, sitting on their bed with my mother (about the safety of his family). I DO NOT condone the actions of the Ferguson police officer who shot Michael Brown. What they did cannot be undone. Those responsible NEED to be brought to justice.
HOWEVER, attacking other officers who quite possibly are in the situation only because that’s their job… absolutely uncalled for.
“For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”
Is it possible to bring those who have done wrong out into the light instead of ‘blanket blaming’ and causing more death and destruction?
This ‘blanket’ mentality is absolutely moronic. Racists ‘blanket’ blacks; Some blacks ‘blanket’ officers. The list goes on.
What is it going to take for people to stop?
On a side note: I have a friend who lives in Ferguson. Yes, he’s black and talented and intelligent and one of the most stand-up people I know. Talking with him recently, he does not agree with the happenings going on with the shooting, looting and such. As a white person, I do not agree either. So, take your pick.

The cop is a coward and so are all his buddies. They are pure cowards. Losers. Freaks. But they will all be Republican heroes by week’s end… kill a black kid and the Tea Party loves you.

Unfortunately, the police officer’s actions may bring unnecessary harm to people who had nothing to do with this situation but Africans and African Americans have been victims of unnecessary harm for 400+ years. The system of racism is archaic and keeps this nation from living up to its fullest potential. I don’t condone releasing the officer’s info but I do understand the temptation to do it.

MO has a huge citizen militia, and guess what? In this specific case, they will assemble to help protect the cops from the lawless thugs that inhabit this area. This isn’t Los Angeles. We won’t put-up with this shit.
