FERGUSON, MO (KTVI) - Tactical units and other law enforcement agencies have deployed tear gas to disperse the crowd at West Florissant near the burned out QuikTrip in Ferguson.

The St. Louis SWAT Team was on  the scene of a protest on West Florissant street in Ferguson on Wednesday evening.  Demonstrators were filling the streets. Police told the crowd to clear the area or there will be arrests.

Just before 9 pm  police say the crowd that gathered at West Florissant and Chambers Road began throwing objects at police officers. Fearing for the safety of the officers police responded with tear gas and concussion grenades to push back the crowd.

As the crowd started to disperse police began moving down West Florissant  to clear the street.
