FERGUSON, MO (KTVI) - Demonstrators took over what was a planned news conference by the Ferguson police chief Tom Jackson. There was very intense rhetoric from some speakers in the crowd.
The chief was supposed to hold a news conference at 12 noon. Chief Jackson left the area.
A member of the Black Panther Party was inside the fire department as well as dozens of protestors.
Earlier, Missouri Governor Nixon said there would be changes made to the police presence in Ferguson. He called for a deescalation of the St. Louis County police in the area. It is unclear if the Highway Patrol or another group will be brought in to keep the peace.
President Obama also addressed the situation in Ferguson saying it was time for a resolution.
