ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - This will not be the first time that Busch Stadium has been in the spotlight during times of crisis.   Who can forget the emotional poem written and recited by Jack Buck  that first game here after the 9-11 attacks.  Baseball helped people move forward.

That said, the Cardinals and St. Louis City police are very aware that tensions remain high across town because of the crisis in Ferguson. While they not expect problems they are not taking any chances.

St. Louis city police confirm to FOX 2 that there will be extra patrols on hand around the stadium and also down by the arch for the moment of silence that is scheduled for 6:20 pm.

Here at Busch the Cardinals have already been working to increase security this season on a general basis in cooperation with Major League Baseball.  They recently began installing metal detectors and will be maintaining vigilant surveillance both inside and outside the stadium.

Fans I spoke with said they are happy to see the increased security, but that nothing was going to keep them from their Cardinal basebal.

That sentiment is shared by pretty much everyone I spoke with.

I can tell you from our vanatage point there has been an increase in the number of uniformed officers and security guards outside the stadium where we are, and there appear to be some fairly minor new parking restrictions.

But for the most part, fans can come on down and expect to see pretty much what they nomally expect to see.
