Events mark start of St. Louis Symphony season

ST. LOUIS (AP) – This week marks the start of the St. Louis Symphony’s 135th year, and the orchestra has big plans to get the 2014-15 season going.

A free concert is planned for 7 p.m. Tuesday on Art Hill in Forest Park. Music director David Robertson, starting his 10th season in St. Louis, will conduct the annual concert.

Opening weekend concerts are planned for 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Powell Symphony Hall. Music will include Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 and Nielsen’s Symphony No. 4, The Inextinguishable
