ST. PETERS, MO (KTVI) – A Vietnam veteran received a long-delayed award Monday in St. Peters.

Patrick Howe was wounded in action in Vietnam while serving in the U.S. Army in 1969.

He was awarded a Purple Heart with a bronze oak leaf cluster that recognized two of the three wounds he received.

Howe did not receive his second bronze oak leaf cluster, because his third wound was recorded but overlooked in his service treatment records.

U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill’s office worked with Howe and the U.S. Army to submit the necessary documentation.

McCaskill was present for today’s ceremony.
