Fighting Illini beat Texas State 42-35 after two hour weather delay

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) _ Texas State and Illinois have resumed their game after a rain and lightning delay of almost two hours.

The game was put on hold at 3:55 p.m. Central time as storms moved into the area. Heavy rain and lightning followed as players and fans evacuated the field and stands. The teams took the field again an hour and 57 minutes later.

The final score was Illini 42 and Texas State 35.
