Holliday and Lackey Power Cards Past Reds 2-1, Magic Number: 7

The Cardinals won another tight game, 2-1 on Friday night over the Cincinnati Reds at Busch Stadium. John Lackey made his first start in nine days and pitched well. Lackey allowed just one run, while pitching into the eighth inning. The Cardinals only runs came in the first inning on back to back home runs by Randal Grichuk and Matt Holliday. Seth Maness got the final out of the ninth inning to save the win for Lackey.

Pittsburgh also won their game on Friday night, 4-2 over the fading Brewers. The Cardinals lead over the Pirates remains two and a half games with eight games to play in the season. The Cardinals magic number to clinch the NL Central division is seven.
