FERGUSON, MO (KTVI)- Gunshots were heard during a protest in Ferguson overnight.

Police officers rushed back toward the Ferguson police station as the gunfire erupted. It’s unclear exactly where the shots came from. This all happened moments after a group of clergy got on their knees and were praying alongside the protesters.

Police told everyone if they did not disperse they’d be arrested. At least one reverend was taken into custody.

Moments before police and protesters were seemingly about to clash, Missouri Highway Patrol Captain Ron Johnson arrived. Johnson learned about what was going on from home.

He was able to ease the tension between police and the protesters.
