VINITA PARK , MO  ( KTVI ) 24:1 Municipal Government Partnership is all about stronger relationships among municipalities  to save money by working together and being more effective. The group refers to 24 municipalities in Normandy Schools district for one vision of strong communities, engaged families and successful children. The group is bound together by  a common geography. The Mayor of Vinita Park says " If one of us does better , we all do better. If one of us struggles , that affects all of us," says Mayor James McGee.

The 24:1  team will consist of over 70 experienced police commanders, police supervisors, police patrol officers and fire departments/EMS officials from agencies located within the 24:1 footprint.  These officers , most of whom  have been working side by side with officers  from  the multitude of agencies assigned to events occurring  with their neighboring community of Ferguson, are  uniquely qualified , connected to the community and experienced to respond to any future critical events which occur  in the 24:1 area. "Officers assigned to the team will be available at all times for immediate deployment to any emergency situation where a significant response is necessary, " said Vinita Park   Police Chief Tim Swope.

One of the important ideologies they have, is they deployed long before the events in Ferguson . The group says this is the best way  to keep the communities safe by building stronger and more meaningful relationships with  youth and residents in the community.

The Group was invited to the White House in April 2013 to talk about the work. As part of this innovative approach to community development, Beyond Housing, in partnership with organizations that provide complementary services and support, has facilitated more than $38 million in community reinvestment activity and more than $2.5 million in residential rehabilitation.

“We are humbled with the opportunity to tell our exciting story to leaders at the White House and sincerely believe we are doing all the needed and necessary things to make this entire community a better place to live,” said Krehmeyer

Formed in 1975, Beyond Housing focuses on improving communities in a holistic manner. It seeks to facilitate comprehensive, collaborative solutions for communities by bolstering their physical infrastructure, convening leaders to provide direction and then guiding available social service resources to community-identified areas of need.

The 24:1 initiative is an innovative, place -based community development  initiative , created to solve in a comprehensive yet targeted way, the serious challenges facing residents and communities within the geographic boundaries of the Normandy School District .
