(KTVI)-The Hero911 Network is a voluntary, nonprofit foundation of federal, state and local law enforcement officers that forms a group dedicated to reducing law enforcement response time to active school shooting incidents.

The Hero911 app  allows teachers to instantly alert all law enforcement officials within 10 miles of their school that an active shooter is inside of the building.  Other teachers are alerted as well. The app displays a mapped location of the school, reports how many uniformed and plain clothes officers have acknowledged the alert and provides a timer from the onset of the initial alert.

The app is part of a system that simultaneously calls the appropriate 911 call center.

A fundraiser is being held for the Hero 911 Network. Head to The Falls in Columbia, IL on Thursday, October 16 for a great dinner followed by a lot of laughs with comedian Vinnie Favorito. Tickets for dinner and the show are $47.50. The comedy show only will cost you $25.00. Proceeds go to Hero 911.
