CRAWFORD COUNTY, MO(KTVI) – The body of a missing Crawford County woman has been found. Mary Ellen Zehnle was last seen around 5:00pm Wednesday, October 8, 2014, walking with her sister along Blunt Road in southeastern Crawford County.

The two separated along the roadway and the sister could never locate her. The sister called police worried because her sister had several medical conditions.

A search party headed by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department searched through the area until darkness and poor weather forced them to stop. Search parties continued to search on Thursday and Friday but nothing was found.

Around 10:30am Saturday, October 11th, a person setting up deer stands reported finding a body in a heavily wooded area approximately one to two miles from the area of Zehnle’s disappearance.  The Sheriff’s Department was able to positively identify the body as that of Mary Ellen Zehnle.

A cause of death was not immediately known. An autopsy will be conducted.
