St. Louis home destroyed in two-alarm fire
ST. LOUIS (AP) _ St. Louis fire officials say the home of seven people has been destroyed in a blaze after the nearest fire hydrant didn’t work.
Capt. Garon Mosby says first responders might have been able to better extinguish the two-alarm fire on Thursday if the hydrant had been functional. It took 60 firefighters to combat the flames at the two-story brick building.
A man was inside when the fire was reported and he escaped unharmed. It’s unclear what started the blaze and why the hydrant was broken.
Mosby says a firefighter was hospitalized with an unspecified injury after his hand got caught in a ladder.
