Gov. Nixon meets with Hazelwood West High School students

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Governor Jay Nixon announced he's creating a Ferguson commission to study and make recommendations on  issues raised by protestors this Tuesday. The governor's office has already received more than 65 applications for the commission.

"Yesterday I had the opportunity to talk to members of the Mound City Bar Association as well as the Clergy Coalition. I think a lot of folks are working to try and make sure we have a solid group of folks willing to the the hard work for the long term change."

The governor met with students Thursday at Hazelwood West High School. He heard their thoughts on the opportunities and challenges facing the metro area. Along with the importance of public education and the state's economy.
