ST. PETERS, MO (KTVI) - The St. Charles County chapter of the American Red Cross is closing its doors in days.

There was a meeting held earlier Wednesday to tell volunteers where the the organization is headed. The American Red Cross announced they are shutting offices down and laying people off across the nation.

Two people lost their jobs at the St. Peters office. Unfortunately, this isn't the first office to shut down in the St. Louis area. Two years ago the Jefferson County American Red Cross office shut their doors and partnered with the Rockwood Community Fire Protection District. The response after the office shut down doubled.

Volunteers got to express their gratitude toward their colleges who lost their job in the meeting. The office will shut their doors November 1st.
