FERGUSON, MO (KTVI) – Michael Brown Sr. was among those attending a church rally at Greater St. Mark’s Family Church Sunday night.   His pastor said the gathering was in part a way to show the Brown family they have support.

Rev. Carlton Lee is also president of the National Action Network's Ferguson Chapter.  He said another big part of a weekend of events is to get voters to the polls on Tuesday.  Events were scheduled for four days in the Ferguson area beginning Friday.

"We really need to get out there, and we need to elect the candidates that best fit our needs," said Rev. Carlton.

The pastor of St. Mark's agrees.  He's also a Missouri state representative.

"Protesting is fine.  It brings attention to the problem, but it doesn't solve the problem," said Rev. Tommie Pierson, (D) 69th District.   "We live in a democracy, and in a democracy you have to participate."

A get out the vote rally will be held Monday at St. Mark Family Church, 9950 Glenn Owen Drive, St. Louis, MO 63113.  The event is scheduled to run from 6pm to 8pm.
