ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI)- A police investigation shows that the hitting of a Trick-or-Treater by a truck on Halloween night was no more than an accident. The 11-year old was struck by a pick-up truck in the 700 block of S. Riverside Drive in St. Charles around 4:00pm Friday.

A police investigation showed that the boy was at the crosswalk when he pulled away from the adult holding his hand.  The child ran between two vehicles stopped in the southbound lane and into the northbound lanes where he was struck by a white 2002 Dodge Ram truck.

The child was seriously injured. He was rushed to the hospital where he is listed in critical, but stable, condition.

The driver of the Dodge is cooperating with police. No charges are expected to be filed.
