Cure-iosity: The party to help cure cancer

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - The Cure-iosity event has has helped raise $340,000 over the past eight years. The proceeds go to the discovery fund that allows doctors do what they do best, try and find a cure for cancer. It`s all to benefit Siteman Cancer Institute.

The Siteman Cancer Institute is known for their cutting edge stem cell research among other innovative ways to help cancer patients. Erin Shannon knows all to well how important the money raised at Cure-iosity is. Not only because she is a doctor herself, but because she lost her mom Judy to brain cancer. That`s why the Shannon family started this event 9 years ago.

"We wanted to do everything we could to raise money for the doctors. So, that nobody else's  mom has to die of brain cancer." said Dr. Erin Shannon.

Each year this event fills up fast. It keeps getting bigger and better every year. They expect o raise $100,000 Friday night.
