JEFFERSON CITY, MO – The Missouri Department of Labor announced Friday that the minimum wage rate for 2015 will be $7.65. That rate goes into effect January 1.

Retail and service businesses whose annual gross sales are less than $500,000 are not required to pay minimum wage. Tipped employees are required to pay at least 50 percent of the minimum wage, or the amount necessary to bring the employee’s total compensation to a minimum of $7.65 per hour.

The minimum wage rate is calculated once a year and increases or decreases based on the cost of living.

Minimum wage in Missouri is currently $7.50 per hour. In 2013, the minimum wage was $7.35.
