Police investigating south St. Louis Stabbing death

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Police are investigating a deadly stabbing Friday morning in south St. Louis. Police were called to a home on the 4100 block California at Gasconade shortly before 7:00am. They found the body of a 59-year-old woman inside who had been stabbed multiple times.

Police say the woman had multiple puncture wounds to her hands, torso, front and back.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.  So far, investigators haven't released the name of the victim.  They are waiting to notify her family. An autopsy will determine whether the puncture wounds were caused by a knife or firearm.

The suspect is a 63--year-old man.  He was taken into custody at the scene.  Investigators say this case is still open.
