Blues starting goalie Brian Elliott is being called out week by week with a knee injury he suffered on Tuesday in the Blues 3-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators. Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock gave the Elliott diagnosis after practice on Wednesday. That makes backup goalie Jake Allen the team's number one goalie for the immediate future.
Late Wednesday afternoon the Blues announced that former Devils goalie Martin Brodeur is being brought in to try out with the team, starting Friday. The 42 year old record setting goalie last played for New Jersey last season. He would bring veteran leadership to the Blues goaltening situation if he is signed to take Elliott's spot during his injury recovery.
