ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - The busiest shopping day of the year comes just days after the Grand Jury’s decision not to indict Officer Darren Wilson.  Now, some St. Louisans are concerned about shopping on Black Friday, due to the recent protests and violence.

On October 13th, Ferguson protesters filled Plaza Frontenac, and posted their activity on social media, with #occupyfrontenac.  That protest wasn`t violent, but with Monday’s fires and looting, some are concerned about what could happen later this week.

Under the slogan, “no justice, no profit,” movement leaders are urging supporters to boycott Black Friday this year.  A flier asks protesters to walk through the malls in silence, holding signs with their hands up.

A spokesperson of CBL Properties, which manages five area malls, says they add security based on mall traffic. It wasn`t clear whether mall security will be any different this Black Friday.  Spokesperson Sean Phillips says, “Unfortunately, just not to compromise what the plans are, we don`t share that information, but all of those planning and preparations is all directed from our local police departments.”

Regarding the Galleria, which is not managed by CBL Properties, Richmond Heights police say they have plans in place, and additional officers standing by, should there be any protests at the Galleria, or anywhere else, throughout Richmond Heights.

Not all shoppers seem concerned about Black Friday protests. One young woman says she wouldn’t mind being around the protests, as long as they didn’t get violent.
