CHESTERFIELD, MO (KTVI) - The busiest shopping day of the year is upon us. St. Louisans spent all night and all day bargain hunting. FOX 2's Rebecca Roberts caught up with Black Friday shoppers at Taubman Prestige Outlets in Chesterfield.
Since 6p.m. Thanksgiving night, there has been a steady stream of people looking to take advantage of the best deals. And there were plenty to be found. Some stores, like Banana Republic and J. Crew, offered 50% off all merchandise. The GAP offered up to 75% off.
Free coffee helped shoppers keep going. Some were literally out all night long. One shopper says, “We are exhausted. Lots of Starbucks coffee. We’ve had two lattes with extra espresso.”
Taubman’s Thanksgiving opening allowed marathon shoppers to start early, but some wanted to keep the holiday separate from Black Friday deals. Shopper Lanie Dattilo explains, “I wouldn’t do it now, just because I know there are a lot of people that want to spend time with their families, and have fun eating turkey and watching football. I think it’s different for everybody, it’s just not for me personally.”
Taubman stores are open until 10p.m. Friday night, giving shoppers plenty of time to take advantage of those deals, and keep retailers in the black.
