ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Sunday is the 73rd anniversary of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor. More than 2,400 men and women were killed in the attack on US Pacific fleet, December 7th, 1941. The next day, President Franklin Roosevelt asked congress to declare war on Japan.
There will be a private event in Hawaii to honor those who lost their lives. A Pearl Harbor survivor will be part of a service in Maryland Heights. There are also ceremonies planned in St. Peters and O'Fallon, Missouri. Flags at state and local government buildings will fly at half staff.
