(KTVI)-The creator of the Harry Potter series says she feels guilty about killing off one of her characters. Author JK Rowling regrets having Voldemort kidnap and kill Florean Fortescue. She says she originally planned to have him play a larger role in the last book of the series.

The little-known wizard owned Diagon Alley’s ice-cream parlor and was killed in the fifth Harry Potter book, “The Order of the Phoenix.” He was “dragged off” by Death Eaters.

She revealed her feelings on the Pottermore website, which focuses on unknown aspects of the Harry Potter series.

The detail is one of twelve so-called “surprises” being released on Pottermore this month.
