CENTREVILLE, IL (KTVI) - Speedier service is on the way at a new state-of-the-art emergency department in the Metro East.

FOX 2 got a sneak peek today inside Touchette Regional Hospital in Centreville slated to open in January. The new ER is expected to see a boost from 12,000 visits per year, to more than 17,000.  The 12-bed department features a race track layout for easier access and efficiency.

The hospital has been stretched thin since East St. Louis' only hospital closed three years ago.  The new hospital will be better equipped to handle a heavier patient load.
